The Trainee will be employed by DEWNR full time for 12 months in the role of Trainee, Conservation and Land Management. During this time the Trainee will be supported to undertake a Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management qualification, and gain practical work experience, with the aim of securing employment in the public sector.
The Trainee, Conservation and Land Management will support Fire Management’s Fire Ecology team in the weed management program to reduce fuel loads and maintain conservation values at prescribed burn sites. The Trainee will also participate in a broad range of fire prevention, park management, administration and training activities to help support DEWNR’s fire management program.
This will include being trained as a fire fighter and may require participating in prescribed burning and bushfire suppression operations.
An important requirement of the role is development of good relationships with the public, managers, staff, service providers and other relevant stakeholders.
